|
The Alvin Show - The fourth
Chipmunks album, and the first to feature them looking (something) like boys wearing
long turtlenecks rather than as actual chipmunks. This LP introduces Clyde
Crashcup and his assistant, Leonardo!
Choice cuts: The Alvin Show Theme, I Wish I Could Speak French
|

|
Kiss of Fire - You couldn't hardly
get the hot lips and the hot fire any closer. This album packaging was sort of
deceptive, as bachelors looking for moody make-out music got authentic Argentinian
folk songs instead. This is how collecting album covers could get started.
Choice cuts: Well, maybe La Tristeza y el Mar
|

|
The Student Prince - A classic
"Big Head" album cover, of which the 1950's offer many fine examples. The music here
is good, especially if you like the sound of Manly Men singing REALLY LOUD.
Choice cuts: Serenade, Drink, Drink, Drink
|

|
The Party's Over - A beautiful
but pooped post-party Polly rests quietly on the floor, a faraway look in her eyes.
This great shot is given additional interest by being tipped to a diagonal.
Choice cuts: I'm Thru With Love, It Never Entered My Mind
|

|
Teenage Party - A fun and
colorful record from 1958, with white teens on the cover and black musicians
inside. A party mix including early rock 'n' roll tunes and "ballads of the
swoony type which teenagers dig the most." As Ozzie Nelson used to say,
"Those kids sure have a lot of vitality."
Choice cuts: Can't We Be Sweethearts, Gee, Lily Maebelle
|

|
I Dig Chicks - A redhead, a blonde,
a brunette, and some lady who climbed on the shovel at the last minute, sticking her
butt out. Perky swingin' trumpet music "...filled with songs about man's favorite
hobby: Chicks!"
Choice cuts: Cecilia, Linda, Judy, Marchetta
|

|
Exotica - The landmark album that
combined popular trends in Percussion Music, Mood Music, and Hawaiian
Music, complete with birdcalls and temple bells. The face that launced a
thousand record searches.
Choice cuts: Quiet Village, Stone God, Love Dance (all by Les Baxter)
|

|
Other Worlds, Other Sounds - The
lovely moon maid turns to face the solar wind, strikes a pose, and checks out the size
of our rocket. Take us to your swingin' space pad, Princess baby. And
do not worry, our rocket will get us off when the time comes.
Choice cuts: Magic Is The Moonlight, Ballerina
|

|
Ritual of the Savage - She pushes
him away, yet pulls him closer. Two friends in formal wear succumb to
passion amidst jungle drums, tropical plants and scary masks. "Here is
music for a slow, surging, and erotic dance..."
Choice cuts: Quiet Village, Stone God, Love Dance
|

|
Temptation - Hmmm. This
scene reminds me of some Bible story. Oh, I know, it's that one about the lady
who finds a mink coat by some fake palm trees, then tries to make cider.
Choice cuts: Speak Low, Temptation
