Video Games

Are you ready for 80's nostalgia?  Besides the great look of some of these units, many are still really fun to play!  Look especially for table-top versions of the big arcade consoles.

Unique among home units, the Vectrex provided a vector rather than bit-mapped display, just like the arcade game Asteroids.  Several cartidges were available, and plastic overlays provided simulated color. A hand-held game with great styling, the "UFO Master Blaster Station" (by Bambino) was another Space Invaders clone.  The aliens would advance beneath the deep blue center section.

Perhaps time will show the Commodore 64 the respect it deserves.  Its popularity once spanned not one but two Christmas buying seasons - a rare feat even today. Standard bearer for a new entertainment medium, PONG by Atari was not the first of its kind, but had the catchiest name.  Beeps and Boops emmanated from the space-age console, which connected to your black and white TV.  Great fun!

But wait!  Did you know you can play real Atari, Commodore, and other video games right on your home computer?!  And they aren't like the originals, they are the originals, ported to run on special "emulator" programs.  Emulators are widely available on the Internet - run a search on "emulators" and download some free classic video games.
